As I have no real funding for my nursery school (depending on random donations from kind relatives) I have to make a lot with a little. One thing that doesn’t cost too much but is great fun for the children is play-dough. My mum once gave me this recipe which I make from time to time.
2.5 dl flour, 1 dl salt, 1 tsp. citric acid, food colour, 1 tbsp. oil, 2.5 dl water.
Mix together the dry ingredients. Boil 2.5 dl water and add the oil and food colour, then pour it over the flour mixture. Mix as much as you can with a spoon to avoid having your hands stained, then carry on kneading the dough till smooth. Let it cool and then store it in a plastic bag or airtight container. The best with this homemade play dough is that it’s all made from edible stuff as children do tend to be tempted to taste their creations…!
